What to Expect

At City Lights, we want to worship God together in a way that is casual, relevant, and real.  Each week our services start at 11 a.m. and end around 12:15.  Here's what you can expect to happen each Sunday:

Before the Service

City Lights 010

When you walk into our service, you'll probably see people hanging out, sipping coffee, and eating doughnuts.  Feel free to do the same.  You can also bring the coffee and food into the service.  The time before the service is also a great chance for you to meet people or just sit down, browse through your program, and relax.

Kids Program

We begin welcoming children, infants through 5th grade, into our Kids’ Program at 10:30 a.m.  You may register your child at the Kids’ Registration Center before he or she attends class for the first time.  Ask the classroom teacher any questions you have and help us learn about the specific needs of your child.  After the service is over, kid’s workers will remain with your child until you come and pick them up.  For more information, check out our vision for City Lights Kids.

Teaching

Teaching

We believe the Bible contains God's perfect and true words written down for us to apply to every part of life.  Many people who haven't read it much think it is difficult to understand, but actually, it's pretty clear and practical.  And since the entire Bible revolves around Jesus and what He did for us on the cross, that's what we teach.  So during each service, you'll hear plainly about who Jesus is and what He's done, so you can grow closer to Him and be changed by Him. Click here to listen to recent sermons.

Offering

Jesus made it very clear that Christians give their best to God in every area of life, including financially.  Tithing (giving a tenth of one's income) is more than supporting your church's mission - it is a vital act of worship to God.  However, if you are just visiting, or you're not a Christian, please do not feel obligated to give as the offering baskets pass by you. Worship

Worship

After the teaching and offering, our band leads us in singing songs to God for 15-20 minutes.  This isn't just singing about God, but it's doing what He created us for - honoring and loving Him.  We want to worship in a manner that's real, and for us, that means genuine heartfelt response to God through music you can relate to.

Prayer

Prayer

At the end of each service, those who want to receive prayer are invited forward during one last song.  The people on our prayer team are trained to pray for you and respond with gentleness and respect as they pray for you.  We believe that God is real and that He really answers prayer. He is loving and wants to help us with our problems and is also powerful and able to help.  No one will pressure you to go forward to receive prayer, and if you don't want prayer you can just stay at your seat.

We offer classes to help people get to know what we're about. We call those classes our City Lights Series. Click here for more details.
