SERVICE IN THE COMMUNITY
In Acts 4, we see that the early church was “of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they
had everything in common.”
We believe that Jesus called us to see that the needs of the believers within the context of the local church are met. The City Lights Mercy Fund is used to supplement our church budget towards caring for those in need within the church family. It is used for basic needs, job training, life-skills training, and the easing of financial burdens.
Although City Lights’ primary focus is on those within the church,
we also believe that we are called to serve the greater St. Louis area and our immediate neighborhood around the church. With that heart and purpose, we have sought to partner with two local organizations who are doing wonderful work within the community, to come alongside them and help in their efforts to "love our neighbors as ourselves."
Every 2nd Saturday of the month, we as a church work with one of these organizations for a "service day," to do anything they would need to further their efforts. The organizations we currently seek to help serve are the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry and the Restore STL Workday program. Information regarding both of these organizations can be found below.
